Mr. Gaber might be able to obtain more information from immigration and
naturalization records for his parents. For instance, if his family
arrived to the U.S. via Ellis Island, you can search for their ship
manifest (chock full of info) via www.ellisisland.org. I did a quick
search for the period 1900-1920 for the name GABER and found several from
Bukovina and at least one family listing Czernowitz as their last place of
residence.
