Dear Friends:
My good friend, distant cousin, and fellow Bukoviner, Prof. Ruth Enis
of Haifa, called me this morning to discuss the upcoming reunion.
She's a member of our list, and has close ties to both the World
Organization of Bukovina Jews as well as the Society of Former Jewish
Residents of Radautz in Israel. Both organizations have meetings
coming up in the next two weeks, and she'll be taking news of our
planned reunion to these meetings. I believe Ruth has been in touch
with Mimi about her kind efforts to inform these organizations of our
plans.
Ruth has an excellent suggestion for Reunion 2007: Invite each of
the individual town organizations to make a short presentation about
their resources and activities to the entire group.
There are four or more of these Bukovina town organizations that
belong to the WOBJ. They are associated with the following towns:
Radauti, Kimpulung, Gura Humora, Vatra Dornei, (and possibly others).
I think that all have published histories of their towns, though
except for the one from Gura Humora, they are not available in
English.
I wish I could be in Israel next March for the reunion. I'm sure it
will be a terrific event.
Best regards,
Bruce
