Dear Mimi,
Have just returned from a trip and keeping up with correspondence today.
Last spring I had my grand-father's tomb covered with a new big stone
and with a new
head-stone, with inscription of course. It was a big work and cost $350.
The stonemason was very reliable. His name is Valery Iurenko. This
information is just for reference purposes.
I am sure that Marianne has good contacts and together with Florence and
Cornel will do their best. Please check again the Romanian text.
We have looked again and again, and still believe that this is one of
the most concise texts and with _correct spelling:_
" AICI A LOCUIT TRAIAN POPOVICI (1892-1946).
IN 1941 CA PRIMAR AL CERNAUTIULUI
A IMPIEDICAT DEPORTAREA IN TRANSNISTRIA
SI MOARTEA PROBABILA A 19600 DE EVREI.
IN AMINTIRE SI RECUNOSTINTA VESNICA
EVREII CERNAUTENI"
The proposed text "cu recunostinta vesnica si amintire eterna" is fine,
but since " vesnica" and "eterena" means the same, I thought of using
one word only to
enable a shorter text.
Regards,
Gabriele
