Dear Mr. Zissels,

My family lived in Radauti, Fratauti and Czernowitz, before emigrating to Canada.

The lucky ones came to Canada before WWII. Those who stayed behind suffered
immeasurably, losing family members. The Survivors eventually ended up in Canada
and Israel, having endured indescribable hardship and suffering, which influenced their
lives forever.

I was very pleased to learn that the 'Museum of Bucovina Jewry' was being planned and
have followed its progress since the beginning.

However, I must say that to not mention the Holocaust is to leave out the focal point
of the disappearance of the large and very active community of Bukovina Jewry, which
contributed greatly to the cultural and economic aspects of Bukovina.

I strongly urge you to reconsider your decision.

Respectfully,

Merle Kastner
