Czernowitzers..
This morning on the live journal website
( http://community.livejournal.com/gr_czernowitz/ ) Hardy spotted an
interesting map posted by Edward Tur. It seems to be from the 18th
century and is of the Jewish quarter.
I enlarged it and tried to make it more clear, but it is of quite low
resolution to begin with. Can someone take a shot at translating the
text in the upper right corner, and perhaps giving us a little
historical context? I would like to post a better copy of the map to
the 'Maps' section of our website if anyone has one.
