Dear Lois,
If you go to www.ellisisland.org and type in Lechner you will find:
10. Adolf Lechner Willawcze, Austria 1909 25 View View View
If you register, then you can view the ship's record (it is a free service).
There are many other Lechner records there, including a couple of others for
Adolf. Willawcze is listed in the column for "residence" in the above record.
I have had some good luck searching my own family history at
www.ancestry.com as well as on the Ellis island website www.ellisisland.org. Ellis Island
has their free Port of New York Passenger Records search. Ancestry.com has many
data bases including ships' records, census, birth / marriage / death,
military records . . . but not always for all the countries you might want. You
can browse a bit for free, but need to pay a fee (monthly or yearly) in order
to go deeper. Here is the first page of 'threads' from the "Lechner Message
Board" on the ancestry.com site found at
http://www.ancestry.com/facts/Lechner-family-history.ashx, but you might need to pay to get in that far:

Dear Friends,
I have been doing genealogy for about 15 years and in one instance haven't
been able to move from this one spot. All and I do mean all the papers
from
my grandparents, their siblings and assorted family all list Willachia as
their home. I finally came to realize that Willachia is not a town at all
and
this is where my question comes in....How can I find out which town my
family
came from. Please understand that everyone in our family who came from
Europe are all deceased and even the few children of this decedents have no
information. How would I go about finding the town of origin of my
grandparents?
Thank you so much,
Lois Friedman
