Subject: [Cz-L] Plaque commemorating Traian Popovici in Chernivtsi

Dear Czernowitzers,

I am trying to get the city authorities of Chernivtsi
to put up a commemorative plaque to Traian Popovici.
The city council supposedly has agreed to do so.
I had suggested that the plaque be in two languages;
either Ukrainian and Yiddish or Ukrainian and Romanian.
Ukrainian, because it is the local language, Yiddish,
because it is the language spoken by the local Jews
and Romanian, because Popovici was Romanian and
Because there are still many Romanians living in Chernivtsi.

Before I proceed any further, I would like your opinions
on the language issue. I would also like your suggestions,
on what the inscription on the plaque should say.
