Thanks for the clarification Mimi. I'm enjoying the book immensely. What an
unbeleivable microcosmos Jewish Cz was.
My father first met Zvi Yavetz in Jerusalem in 1944. My father had reached
Palestine after being smuggled across the Dniester from German occupied
Poland to Romania (with my later to be mother and sister). From Romania he
sailed on a Turkish fishing boat to Istanbul (there were three boats,
Mefkure, Morina and Bulbul. Mefkure was torpedoed with the loss of almost
all of its 300 Jewish refugees). From Istanbul he travelled by train to
Palestine. Zvi who had reached Palestine earlier, was a student at Hebrew
University in 1944.
I been trying to get information on my mother's family from Cz, but haven't
been successful.
