I am putting together a list of landsmanshaftn societies that are still
active today. When I say "active," this could mean several things. Do they
meet once a year? Are they a legal entity? Do they have officers?

Do they send out periodic publications to their members? How many members do
they have? Who is the contact person for this society?
These are some of the questions to be asked, as there is generally not so
much activity among these societies. It is perhaps through the advent of the
internet, through such groups as the Czernowitz group, that people now keep
in touch who come from the same town. People really are spread now
throughout the world (not so much living in NYC and the outlying boroughs
anymore), so the ability to keep in touch through the internet is a

So is there still an active Czernowitz landsmanshaft? Again, I don't mean a
discussion group, but an organized society, etc., as mentioned above.

Also, if anyone knows with any certainty of the existence of other
landsmanshaftn societies, please let me know and I will let the world know
about them.
