[Cz-L] new member

Hello, my name is Sylvia de Swaan - born Neuman,
daughter of Simon and Etka Neuman, sister to
Paula Neuman Gris, who all once lived on the
Türkische Gasse, #6. That was before we were
deported to Transnistria, me just a baby still ,
before we were liberated by the Russian, before
we spent some years in the refugee camps of
Western Europe, before we immigrated to the
United States, before I grew up to become who I
am -

I am a photographer who came to
Czernowitz/Chernivtsi in 1996 to make work in the
context of a project called "Return," about
personal history, memory, identity and roots. I
spent five days there and have always meant to go
back.

In mid October I'm scheduled to be in Russia for
participation in an exhibition and conference
with the title "In Transistion: Cultural Identity
in the Age of Transnational and Transcultural
Flux." - by coincidence I heard that Czernowitz
is celebrating it's 600 anniversary right around
the same time and it seems possible to be there
to commemorate and photograph this special event
of my native city.

I'm writing to ask for help orienting myself and
to find a place to stay - renting a room with a
central location could be good. I do not speak
Russian or Ukrainian, but do know some German.

Any help you can offer would be very appreciated.
