[Cz-L] Czernowitz recipes and Yiddish proverbs

Two recent hot topics of the Czernowitz-L discussions were combined in
Shura Vaisman's 1997 website "A lek un a shmek: di yerushe fun mayne
bobes" - authentic Czernowitz recipes and Yiddish proverbs. The site,
which is a part of the Virtual Shtetl, is located at

This is a collection of recipes for a number of staple as well as more
exotic Jewish dishes from Czernowitz and surrounding areas (mostly
Bessarabia and western Podolia), which Shura learned from her and her
husband's grandmothers and other relatives. The recipes are grouped
into four categories: soups and appetizers, main dishes, desserts, and
holiday recipes. Each recipe is accompanied by an appropriate Yiddish
proverb.
