Czernowitzers...
In case you missed it, I've been changing the home page on the website
every week for the past three or so weeks, posting a different Cyber
Memorial to Popovici each week.
If you have not viewed these works, they are now collected on the
website. From the Menu on the home page ( http://czernowitz.ehpes.com
), go to 'Popovici Memorial Pages' then to 'Cyber-Memorials' at the
bottom of the page. Clicking on the artist's name brings up the
artwork. There is a little bio for each artist.
How did all this come about? Well, I asked the artists I knew of on
the list if they or their friends in the art community would be
interested in reading the materials about Popovici and perhaps
producing something to honour the brave work that Popovici did. This
is so far the result.
I am expecting more memorials over time. If you, or someone you know
(not necessarily list members) would be interested in contributing to
this project, let me know -- you don't have to be a professional
artist!
Now in the next few moments, the home page will change again. This
time, a very interesting Yiddish related document will be shown: Hardy
Breier's report card in Yiddish from the Soviet era (1945). How did he
do -- was he a good student or a troublemaker? Read all about it!
Best,
jerome
