[Cz-L] Fw: news in connection with Traian Popovici!!!!!!!!!!!

I have received (below) a message from Florentin Lehaci regarding his effor=
ts on commemorating Traian Popovici.
 
I forward an abridged version of a translation (by Saint Anny Matar) of Mr.=
 Lehaci’s letter to me.
 
“Good progress has been made on the effort of honoring Traian Popov=
ici.  The Minister of Culture in Bucharest has shown interest and is wi=
lling to support the erection of a monument. The Ministry speaks of an inves=
tment of 18.000 Euros for a bust sculpted by a professional sculptor. The bu=
st is to be mounted on a pedestal with an inscription on this pedestal. Work=
 is underway to determine the place for this bust which will be in Fundu Mol=
dovei, Suceava, approximately 200 km from Chernivsty.
 
This will be done in collaboration with the Association of the Holocaust Su=
rvivors, we are developing a program that will involve the unveiling of the =
bust on October 17th, the birth date of Traian Popovici, a symposium to be h=
eld on October 18th with participation of specialists in the history of the =
Romanian Holocaust, and a possible visit to Chernivtsy on October 19th to si=
tes relevant to Popovici."
 
Mr. Lehaci goes on to express his wish that as many as possible would parti=
cipate in this event.  I’m going to try my best to make it.Â=
  In a short while, I expect, Mr. Lehaci will have firm dates for us and t=
ravel advice as to how best to get there, where to stay, etc.

In Romaneste:
In aceasta perioada (timp de o luna si jumatate) am fost la cursu=
rile de master la Bucuresti. Desi am fost ocupat cu foarte multe si dificile=
 examene, totusi mi-am luat timp pentru a ma ocupa si de proiectul referitor=
 la Traian Popovici. Vreau sa spun ca s-a reusit o mare realizare. Ministeru=
l Culturii de la Bucuresti si-a manifestat interesul fata de persoana l=
ui Popovici si va sustine financiar realizarea unui monument. Este vorb=
a de 18 000 euro!!!!! Acesti bani vor fi folositi pentru realizarea unui bus=
t, a unui soclu si a unei placi amplasate pe soclu. Bustul va fi realizat di=
n bronz de catre un sculptor profesionist. Vreau sa spun ca deja se lucreaza=
 la amenajarea spatiului unde va fi amplasat bustul... Locatia va fi in Fund=
u Moldovei, judetul Suceava, la cativa metri de mormantul lui Traian Po=
povici. Localitatea este la aproximativ 200 km de Cernauti. 
In colaborare cu Asociatia Supravietuitorilor Holocaustului am stabilit dej=
a un program de desfasurare care consta in urmatoarele>
17 octombrie - dezvelirea bustului (aceasta este ziua de nastere a lui Trai=
an Popovici)
18 octombrie - simpozion cu participarea unor specialisti in problema Holoc=
astului din Romania
19 octombrie- speram sa putem realiza o vizita la Cernauti pentru vizitarea=
 locurilor ce amintesc despre Traian Popovici si despre Holocaust
 
Dupa cum constatati, in Romania a inceput deja sa se constientizeze importa=
nta lui Traian Popovici ca model educativ. Ma astept ca in momentul dezvelir=
ii bustului sa fie un public numeros si, mai ales, personalitati de prim ran=
g din mediul politic si cultural din Romania.
M-as bucura sa va alaturati bucuriei mele si sa intelegeti importanta acest=
ui moment. Simt ca campania de promovare a personalitatii lui Traian Popovic=
i incepe sa ia amploare si aceasta nu poate decat sa deschida perspective no=
i pentru proiecte ulterioare. Chiar in ceea ce priveste filmul...
Ar fi o bucurie imensa pentru mine daca ati putea lua parte la acest evenim=
ent. Ar fi un moment important pentru debutul filmului. Chiar dumneavostra m=
i-ati spus ca intentionati sa incepeti filmul cu dezvelirea unui bust. Iata =
ca acest bust este in prag de realizare chiar in localitatea unde Traian Pop=
ovici a copilarit si unde a fost dorinta lui sa fie ingropat. Ce ziceti de a=
ceasta propunere?
 
Cu speranta ca v-am starnit interesul pentru acest eveniment si ca Cineva a=
colo Sus vegheaza ca evenimentele sa mearga in aceasta directie, va doresc n=
umai bine si multa sanatate!
