In the article by Aharon Appelfeld, I recently sent this list,
It says among other things, that interest in Czernowitz is maintained
and that books on Czernowitz continue to be published.

On my recent visit to Chernivtsi, I experienced first hand, how much
interest there still is in Czernowitz and Chernivtsi.

Just by chance, I met 4 different individuals or groups of tourists.
One of these was from Germany, one from France, one from Austria and
one from Switzerland. All had come to Chernivtsi because they were
interested in the city's past, the birth-place of Paul Celan and Rose
Auslander and the Jewish, German language culture of Czernowitz.
In addition, I met a group of students of Ethnography, who had come to
Chernivtsi to interview native Yiddish speakers in the city. These students
had come under the guidance of a Yiddish professor from Moscow University,
but they themselves were from various countries and were not all Jews.

Czernowitz, as it once was, is no more, but if it lives on in books and
the consciousness and interest of people, I at least, am very pleased.
