Hi All,
I have made a small study of all the memorial plaques
of prominent Jews of Czernowitz to see how they got their
name on a city wall :
Here is how they are described:
Sidi Tal - Ukrainean Emerit Artist
Paul Celan - famous german-writing poet
Joseph Schmidt - famous Bukovinean singer
Rose Auslaender - german writing author
Selma Meerbaum - german writing poetess
   Erwin Chargaff - famous biochemist
The word "Jewish" is not there.
This is how the plate got there on the wall.
Want the Popovici plate ? On the Zankowetzky house?
Remove the term Jew ,replace it by Czernowitzer ,
    and you get a plate.
" Saved 19,600 (Or as many as you wish) Czernowitzer "
and you can as many languages as you want :
Albanian ,Urdu - you name it.

                     Hardy
