I, too, remember the ghetto perimeters getting smaller as transport after t=
ransport left for Transnistria. =A0We were one of the last families to rece=

Dear friends of the list,
I am writing just now an article for a French review about the Jews which r=
emained during all the war in Czernowitz.
I speak for several weeks with a wonderful lady, more than 90 years old. Sh=
e remained during all the period in Czernowitz and we speak a lot about the=
daily life during these years (June 1940 - June 1941, then June 1941 - May=
1944).
I would have a general request=A0 and two more precise ones.
The general request: I would be very interested by all the testimonies or m=
emories of the period, especially as regards personal stories or anecdotes.
The specific requests; The lady told me that the limits of the ghetto chang=
ed each time the Romanian authorities had succeeded in evacuating the Jews =
of a street to send them in Transnistria. At this moment, the wood fence of=
the ghetto was moved to the next street. Somebody knows about this fact?
My informer also said to me that, in the perimeter of the ghetto, not only =
Jews remained. For example, she had a Rumanian neighbor. On this question a=
lso, I would have liked to have other testimonies.
I will be obviously very interested to receive all possible memories on thi=
s period.
I thank you so much in advance.
