My grandfather with his family, my mother and her brothers fled from
Galizia during WW1, running away from the Russians and lived in Bohemia. It
seems that the Austrian Government directed the refugees to flee to Bohemia,
in general. My grandfather was born in Czernowitz, but went to learn Talmud
at the Rabbi of Buczacz,.married there and built a business in Yazlowitz.
His house and business were looted and burned during the Russian occupation
and he returned to Czernowitz in 1918. My mother told me that they were well
received in Bohemia by the local population and they did not feel
discriminated beacuse of thei Jewishness.
