David, this makes so much sense and would resolve the uncertainties.
Do you think these apartment houses were around as early as 1887? If
so, perhaps my grandparents and my father and his siblings were
better placed than I'd thought. My grandfather is recorded there
then, although I don't have a house number for that time. My father
was born in 1893, so he'd have likely lived there as well because
when my grandfather died, in 1927, he was still on that street, at
#11; and when my grandmother died, in 1926, she was at #2A. I wonder
if the street was as lovely then as in the photo, which I'm about to
print out and enjoy. Thanks so much, David. --- Jessica.
