Hi, everyone,
I make edits to Wikipedia all the time and would be happy to
incorporate any corrections that members of this group would agree to.
The difficulty is that this must be factual and if possible,
footnoted, because opinions are not to be included in Wikipedia
articles. I usually update links, addresses of institutions, etc.
and make grammatical corrections and the sort - all facts, all
verifiable. Subjective items - i.e. the number of Czernowitzers
saved [as has been debated here time & again] cannot be posted as an
absolute.
Especially with Holocaust-related items, Wikipedia has great
sensitivity and [for instance] blocks the editing of any article that
Holocaust-deniers have tried to edit. So, I, too, might be blocked
but we could appeal to a higher level of Wikipedia editor.
Let's make a try, then. It's important to right any errors or
omissions before they become accepted historical fact.

We've spoken many times here about Dr. Popovici's role in saving
Czernowitz's Jews. One place where Dr. Popovici's deeds are not
mentioned is in the article on Chernivtsi on the popular website
Wikipedia. Google Czernowitz and the Wikipedia article
(<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chernivtsi>)
is near the top of the computer screen, making it one of the first
sites someone researching Czernowitz will turn to. The Wikipedia
article speaks of the role of Theodor Criveanu but has no mention of
Dr. Popovici. Dr. Popovici is, however, acknowledged in the Wikipedia
article "List of People from Chernivtsi"
and in an article about him at
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traian_Popovici>
.
Perhaps someone out there with experience in making Wikipedia edits
would like to add to the Chernivtsi page a reference to Dr.
Popovici's good deeds, with a link to his Wikipedia biography. Even
better would be if someone were willing to take comments from the
group on the entire Chernivtsi article and make all changes deemed
necessary.
