Righteous is a new word to the English language -it derives from the Hebrew
Tzadik a name
given to wonder rabbis and more. In Hebrew Tzedek means Justice,Right.
It was adopted as a title for non-jews who saved jews during the
   Holocaust.
We Czernowitzer had our Tzadik in Traian Popovici whose name became so
popular
because
of the so much covetted "Popovici Authorization" which was a license to
     survival.
Every Jew in Czernowitz knew Popvici by name and most who stayed did so
due to
     Popovici. We honor his memory.
Now there are two more Tzadikim - rumanians who saved Czernowitzer
jews.
Theodor Criveanu an army man who issued the stay permits and Tit
Simedrea
the Bukovina Mitropolit who pulled strings in Bucharest.
I have never heard these names before but if Yad Vashem found these
worthy
to be on the list I can only pay my humble respect.
By the way , I never got a Popovici Authorization.
By some mistake or lack of money for the bribe ,my name was not on the
familt permit.
I was therefore smuggled out of the Ghetto in a wicker basket with
the cooking pans.
        On a horse driven carriage.
           Somewhere in January 1942.
           Hardy
