To the best of my knowledge, the only earthquake in Czernowitz occurred
in the early summer of 1941. Or am I wrong and the large earthquake
which occurred in Romania sometime in the 1970ies was also felt in
Czernowitz?
For those who know German: Before the earthquake of 1941, I had often
heard the expression "Er hat Ideen wie ein baufalliges Haus", therefore
I was very astonished after the earthquake, to discover that the house
next door on the Blumengasse had actually become baufallig.
(I am sorry this cannot be translated into English).
