Dear all,

I would like to emphasize that I really welcome the letter Mr. Kylynych
sent us through Jerome. I do think that it would be a good idea to cooperate
with Mr. Kylynych and his office on promoting the city and that helping
establish a virtual museum of Famous Czernowitzers and Czernowitz families,
is something we are quite qualified to do.
I hope that there are many members of this list who agree with me on this
and who will write to Mr. Kylynych and offer their help.

I copy below part of my own letter to Mr. Kylynych.

-------------------------
I welcome your suggestion that members of the list cooperate with
the city of Chernivtsi in promoting the city. Even though I write
on my own behalf and do not represent the members of the Cz.-List,
I am sure that many of us would very gladly cooperate with you
and your office in promoting Chernivtsi in general and on
the particular project of establishing a virtual museum of famous
citizens and families of Chernivtsi.

Last summer, during my stay in Chernivtsi, I by chance met quite
a number of tourists, mostly from Austria, Switzerland
and Germany, who had all come to visit Chernivtsi because it is
the birthplace of famous poets and because it has the reputation
of a highly cultured city.

A museum devoted to the famous people of Chernivtsi and the culture
and atmosphere in which these people were educated will definitely
be a tourist attraction and will also promote respect for the city's
history and heritage.

The "ehpes" site contains a list of famous Jewish citizens of Chernivtsi
as well as many photographs which demonstrate the way of life before WW2.
These could be used as an initial basis for planning part of the material
to be contained in the museum. Members of the list will most probably be
glad to assist by supplying ideas, photographs and documents, possibly
also memoirs and their own reminiscences.
-------------------------

I did not mention the rehabilitation of the cemetery, but will definitely
make an appointment to discuss this issue with him in April during my visit.

Mimi
