Czernowitzers... below is a draft response that I have cobbled
together to Mr.Kylynych's original email. Since I am responding for
the group, please advise me of any corrections or changes that you
feel are necessary. Also, if you are the author of the Famous
Czernowitzers suggestion, can you send me what was sent to the City?
Best,
jerome
=======================================================
Dear Mr.Kylynych:
I must apologize for not responding to your email of 05 Feb. sooner; I
was away for the first three weeks of the month.
Thank you so much for your invitation to co-operate on projects of
mutual benefit. Your email has been forwarded to every one of our 350
members for comment and suggestions. Initial response has been very
positive and I am sure you will hear from us soon.
A number of our members of course visited Chernivtsi during the 600th
Anniversary celebrations and were very favourably impressed. The
presentations and activities were outstanding as were the renovations
to the streets and buildings of the 'old city'.
On our website: <http://czernowitz.ehpes.com> there is an entire
section devoted to the 600 Anniversary celebrations including many
photos. Our home page still shows a fine picture of the Rabbi and City
officials taken during the celebrations, and there are links back to
'Chernivtsi on the Net'.
We would be pleased if you could put a link to our website on your
official 'Chernivtsi on the Net' website.
As regards the making of a virtual museum of Famous Czernowitzers of
the Past, I will query the group to find out who submitted the idea
and we can go forward from there.
Again, our thanks to you for invitation for further co-operation, and
we look forward to working with the City in the future.
Best regards,
Jerome Schatten
