I was just on the phone with Rabbi Gabai's son in law Levi Yitzchak, he told
me that there are no specific criteria and that they would be happy to help
us.
There are several advantages to working with them over founding our own
fund/organization/non-profit
including:
1.It costs money to set up and run a nonprofit from fees for registering
printing receipts and letterheads etc. to accountant fees and annual
bookkeeping
2.This organization will take care of the details coordinated by our efforts
and maintain the holy sites for us.
3.They are experienced and they have done this before, they have contacts
with workers and contractors, they know who and how much to pay, we are
inexperienced and can easily be ripped off by the locals etc. who can smell
money and charge us four times the price and we would never know better.
They have offices here in Jerusalem and the best way to get going is to have
a meeting, I will be happy to join. Who among us is here in Israel that can
come to such a meeting?
