I think that we now need to set up an organization for the restoration and
maintenance of the Czernowitz/Chernivtsi Jewish cemetery. Most probably we
should incorporate this organization and also apply for tax exempt status.
This will qualify us to apply for funds from charitable organizations and
make contributions to our organization tax deductible.
I know very little about such matters and right now, do not have time to
study what and how it should be done. Among a group as large as ours, there
are bound to be some lawyers, or accountants, or other knowledgeable people,
who could advise us. Also some who could study the subject and gain
knowledge to be transmitted to the rest of us.
Please anyone who feels competent and willing to do so, advise us how and
where to start this organization. It is important that we have an
organization in place before we need to make major decisions and handle
larger sums of money.
Please respond to this message by writing to the list and on the subject
line of your message write: "Info. Non profit organizations"
With advance thanks,
Mimi
