Dear All,
I previously wrote you that Christian and I disagreed on the areas of the
cemetery which have been cleared. We wrote to Julia, who was still in
Czernowitz to check on some of the areas and I looked again through my notes
and photographs. I found that I had both notes and photographs of
gravestones which are in the furthest north areas of the part of the
cemetery which was cleared by the workers hired by Dr. Bursuk. I sent these
names and photograph to Bruce Reisch, who confirmed that they are in areas
#119 and #120, possibly even in areas #125 and #126. There seems to be no
path between #119 and #120 on one side and #125 and #126 on the other side,
so it is difficult to distinguish between one area and the next.
I now realize that my measurements must have been off by one full length
of my measuring tape; 51' or about 15,6 meter.
According to Julia, areas 9, 10, 29, 30, 31, 32, 55, 56, 57, 58, 137 are
also cleared and she too, thinks that areas 125 and 126 have been cleared as
well.
Mimi
