Dear Czernowitzers,

A few days ago I wrote you about continuing the clearing of the cemetery of
weedy vegetation and the need to collect funds for this purpose.
Upon considering this matter further, I would like to start collecting funds
before we have agreed on the By-Laws of the CJCRO (I hope that these will be
ready for your approval shortly) and before we have been granted non-profit
status. I would also like to collect some money to cover the cost of
applying for non-profit status.

Because sending money by bank wire transfer incurs a flat fee which would
constitute a high percentage of a modest donation and in order to facilitate
the collection of donations from various countries and in different
currencies, I propose that contributions, in other than US Dollars and of
equal or lesser value than $500, be sent to an intermediary, who, once he
has collected a larger sum will wire transfer the whole sum to our account.

Berti Glaubach has agreed to collect contributions in Israeli Shekel.
Christian Hermann has agreed to collect contributions in Euro.
I hope one of you will agree to collect contributions in Canadian currency.

I further propose that contributions in US Dollars be sent either
to Sasha Wolloch, the treasurer of CJCRO, or to me.

Those collecting the contributions, will acknowledge the receipt to the
sender and to either Sasha or me. Sasha or I will then send the contributor
a second acknowledgement, thereby insuring the accuracy and honesty of the
collection process. I used the same method in collecting money for the 2003
Cz. Reunion and for covering the expense of the Popovici memorial plaque.

I hope these suggestions meet with your approval,

Mimi

We have set up a corporation for the restoration of the cemetery and legally
registered it in the state of Florida. By "we", I mean Sasha Wolloch, Wolfi
Schaechter and myself. The name of this corporation is:
CZERNOWITZ JEWISH CEMETERY RESTORATION ORGANIZATION Inc. or CJCRO Inc.
We are currently working on writing the By-Laws of the corporation and
setting up a bank account for it. Later we will also apply for non-profit
status for this organization. I hope that most, if not all of you, will join
this organization.

The further clearing of the cemetery cannot proceed until we send Dr. Bursuk
the funds needed for paying the workers. I therefore would like to ask for
your donations as soon as possible and before we have been granted
non-profit status.

In the next few days, I will write this list, how and to whom donations for
the CZERNOWITZ JEWISH CEMETERY RESTORATION ORGANIZATION Inc.
should be sent.
