I remember him very well; he was quite a known character for Czernowitzer
children.
His correct nickname was "Enye Menye". He was selling on the streets the
"Allgemeine Zeitung" as well as the Czernowitzer Morgenblatt". He had a
rather hoarse voice and in order to promote his newspaper selling he used to
yell: "Enye Menye fuhrt kein Bukarest!!! Schwerer Unfall in Klokuczka -
Fünf Hundert Tote und Zweitausend Verwundete; Czeeernowitzer AAAllgemeine
und Morgenblatt !!" Then he approached a man on the street and used to tell
him: "Herr Dokter, koift ba mir a Zeitung" and the Herr Dokter used to say
"Ober ich hob schoin gekoift a Zeitung haynt"; he did not accept no for an
answer and continued: "Ober tit mir a Toive un koift ba mir a Zeitung";
after the second refusal he reacted: "oyb azoy hob ich ach in drerd Herr
Dokter"
