Dear all,
I must confess that I'm a big fan of Mr."Raiden''s blog . His articles
about old-new Bucharest and the illustrations are highly interesting. I'm
impressed and moved by his and his friends concerns for the future of their
tormented city. A long time ago, this was my town, too.
Please, don't forget, that the building of Holocaust Memorials in the heart
of other important cities, like Berlin and Vienna had also aroused criticism
and controversies. They are the citizens, it's their right.
Regards,
Irene

Czernowitzers --

Edgar Hauster, our indefatigable traveller, researcher, photographer once
again visits Bucharest and returns with ten more pictures of the Romanian
Holocaust memorial. Available from the Menu on the home page, Click on
Cemeteries & Towns...' and then click on 'Bucharest'. Or for the truly
lazy:
http://czernowitz.ehpes.com/czernowitz11/bucharest/index.html

There's quite a bit of interest in this Memorial, not all of it flattering.
Irene Fishler sent this link to Edgar; he says: "Irene Fishler has sent an
very interesting (Romanian) link to me:
http://www.rezistenta.net/2009/10/memorialul-holocaustului.html
Sceptical, full of details regarding the evolution of the Memorial and a lot
of comments, it is presenting comparable projects in Europe, etc."

If you can't read Romanian, Google does a fairly good job of translating the
page into English. Just click on 'Language Tools' and then scroll down to
'Translate a Web Page' and paste the link in. Just below Select Romanian ->
English and click on 'Translate'.

You can add your comments about the Memorial to our Blog if you are so
inclined. Just click on the link below:

Finally, If you haven't watched the video of last summer's Czernowitz
cemetery cleanup, It's on the Blog at:
http://ehpes.com/blog1/2009/11/03/czernowitz-jewish-cemetery/
Very nicely done!

Best,
jerome
