[Cz-l] Looking for Info about the "Jewish Police"

Dear List,

In my continuing journey to uncover the details of my grandfather's arrest
and ultimate deportation, I am looking for information about a friend of
his. Mr. Lehr, a very prominent figure in the CZ Jewish community and head
of the =93 order police=94 ( Ordungsdienst ).

My mother was friends with his daughter, Rita. I was wondering if anyone
knows if she's still alive and the details of Mr. Lehr and his role in the
Order Police good or bad.

Any information would be helpful.

P.S. In lieu of those who have written about gaining access to archive
records, patience is a virtue. When I made the trip last April for the
Popovici ceremony, we stopped in Lvov where my father was from. I filled ou=
t
paperwork to get the original plans and paperwork of my father's family
business and property which was a bakery and is now an apartment building
with offices. Yesterday I received a package from the Ukranian Embassy here
in Washington. The paperwork was sent to the Embassy from the Archives in
Lvov. It contained all the original architectural drawings, plans, ownershi=
p
and land title dating back to 1922.

It was a complete surprise because I never thought we would get such
paperwork. I think we paid less than $5 for the application which is in
great contrast to the $200 I had to pay for my grandfather's 65year-old
arrest record.
