 Dear Gaby,

You must be right. This is what my father wrote in his notebook ( I hold it
in my hands) , sitting in a kolchoz 1,400 km east-of-Czernowitz:
" Yesterday, March ,30th at 8.00PM, the Moscow-Radio announced that the Red
Army conquered and freed the town of Czernowitz"

This is the first line of the paragraph I copied for you below. Please ,
someone, Gaby, Mimi, Bobby, Lucca, Fred, Marcel, etc , can you translate it?

"Gestern am 30. Maerz , 8 Uhr abends verkuendete Radio Moskau, dass die Rote
Armee im Sturm die Stadt Czernowitz befreit hat. Mit Traenen in den Augen
hoerte ich den siegesstolzen Armee-Befehl Stalins ueber die Formierung der
"Czenowitzer Divisionen", aufwuehlend der begruessende Klang der
Kreml-Glocken, unterbrochen von den Salut-Schuessen aus
zweihundertundzwanzig Geschuetzen. Den Gruss hoerte unser ganzes grosses
Vaterland" ( Josef Ehrenkranz)
