I'm fascinated by the Czernowitz directory from 1936 which appears to
list my grandmother, Ana Rudich, a dressmaker. I'm still searching
for any information about my grandfather, though, and my mother's
maiden name was Strainsky - which does not appear at all on that list
or anywhere else. A cousin of my mother, Dolphi Goldenberg of
Toronto, tells me he has no recollection of my mother and grandmother
living with anyone else. Such a mystery. I'm wondering about the
information we were told by my mother, Jeannette Strainsky, who went
to Scazenits at age 13,where her mother died. To whom should I
address a request for my mother's birth certificate or my
grandmother's marriage certificate? Do I have to go to Czernowitz
myself to find out anything about my grandparents?
Thanks for your help.
