Hello Fellow Czernowitzers,
I have been a member of this prestigious group for some time now, and read
all of the notes, and look at all of the photographs which bring me closer
to my early beginnings. I send this type of correspondence once a year or
so in hopes anyone might remember my Family.
My name is Philip Katz, and I was born on September 27, 1941 in the
Czernowitz Ghetto.
My Father, Moritz Katz, was a electrical engineer and electrician, who
owned an electrical appliance and repair retail store somewhere in Czernowitz.
I recall having seen a photo of the store which displayed a huge sign
centered above it which said: KATZ
He was also an avid semi-pro or professional soccer player , again
depicted in photos I saw with him on the field sporting a number on his shirt.
The same applied to his skills as a motorcycle racer. I believe he and my
Mom, Baby (Wolloch) Katz who came from Lukavetz in Bukovina, lived on
University Strasse, but I am not certain.
Do any of you happen to have any records that would help me find my past?
Anything would be humbly and gratefully acknowledged and appreciated.
