Teachers in Czernowitz.

In the 18-th Yiddishe middle school on Siebenbuergerstrasse corner
Neuweltgasse we had following teachers :

The Segal brothers for Physics and Math.
Nicknamed Toder and Metre Kapeliuch. Both were single and devoted to
   teaching.
    Liked by everyone.
Metre Kapeliuch got his name for the hat he wore - black and pointed.
Meter long hat . So it was Toder and Metre.
For history we got the Tabak who had a wooden leg and knew no Yiddish.
As a Yiddish school the teaching had to be in Yiddish so what she did
she
taught us in broken German. Isn't Yiddish broken German ?
Once an inspector from Kiev came and participated in one of her lessons
asked :
" What language is this ?" We understood her fine.
Then we had Giniger for Yiddish who was a Yiddishist and friend of
Eliezer Steinberg
who fought the war in Stalingrad ( Giniger ) and married Tante Valencia
our chemistry teacher
nicknamed for chemical valences she taught us and not for the Spanish
city.
Then there was the sport teacher Stanger who also taught us music and
was a party
member and was on city council and placed complaints everytime the
neighboring
Russian school hooligans ambushed us and beat us up.
The there were army instructors - red army wounded officers - who
taught us
     military matters.
Then there were youth instructors to organize the pioneer movement
where
we learned soviet songs and how lucky we were to have comrade Stalin to
watch over us.

There were more teachers for Russian , Ukrainean ,Natural sciences
and more.
       These I dont remember.
