As Sasha writes, I too remember seeing the sign of Dr. Noe. The building
in question is #4 Zankovetska, formerly Karolinengasse, right next to the
Tempel.
One set of my great-grandparents lived there, as did my maternal
grandparents. My mother Rachel Steinmetz Reifer, was born there and
lived in this building until 1923 or 24.
I believe that quite a number of members of this list, had relatives who
lived in this building. It is also possible, even though not certain that
Joseph Schmidt lived in this building.
Hardy, could you find out, if it is still possible to buy the sign? I will
pay for it and give it to Natasha Shevchenko, to be placed in the Jewish
museum.
