No Andy,
The Ukrainean era Popovici street relates to Omelian Popovici a
Ukrainean
prominent local public intellectual, educator, writer, and politician.
"Our " Traian Popovici is not mentioned in Czernowitz.
Until we placed the memorial plate nobody knew about him.
Even the title of City Mayor is denied to him.
The war years of 1941-44 are wiped out of the city history including
the Jewish story.

Subject: [Cz-L] Splenigasse, Strada Traian and now Popovich
Buna ziua, prieteni. Va multumesc pentru ca informatiile de pe strada Traian
la Popovich.
No, I can no longer write or speak Romanian but with all the free online
translation services, anything is possible.
Just wanted to say thanks to all who provided the current street name for
the street on which I spent my first eleven years.
Hardy, could the street name Popovici be related to our Righteous Among
Nations man?
Andy
