Dear All,
I must shamefully confess that I am not related by family or otherwise
  to the great singer.
Nor did we have neighbors or acquaintances who knew the great voice in
person. Nor did any of us know Schmidt's neighbors.
Having a seat for the high holidays in the Temple to hear Schmidt's voice
penetrate heaven, was costly and out of our reach.

I will therefore shamefully admit that I have never seen or heard
Schmidt in person and had to limit myself to recorded music.
I still very much like his voice , am proud he was a Bukovinean Jew
and feel deep sorrow for his early death.
      Hardy
