This was our school No 3 in 1945
The Germans had their arsenal of weapons here in 44.
The Soviets did not remove the arsenal for some time
and we played there :Helmets, gas masks , machine guns
and hand grenades.
Our Russian language teacher was Maria Lebedeva.
A young, blonde, beautiful russian teacher who spoke only russian.
We understood very little ,but did our best.
On the 6 of August 1945 teacher Lebedeva came in and
annonced : "Sedmoy class (this meant us).
Today , the Amerikantzy dropped an Atomskaya Bomba on the
Yaponsky gorod Giroshima ! The war will come to an end !"
As we didnt understand much Russian it was not very clear
what was on - only later did we get it.
Then, later Molotow ,our Foreign minister proclaimed :
" The SSSR will also soon have Atomskaya Energia ,
comrade Stalin has given his word."
Thus reassured , our morale was reinstated.
