Strada Turceasca was known as Türkengasse in the Austrian period. It is
nowadays called Vulitza Turetska. I think the #6 building still exists. If
I am not wrong, my classmate Yozhi (Josef) Schmelzer (b. 1926) lived there
with his parents and a sister. There was also a Weissmann family living in
the same apartment building, related somehow to the Schmelzer family.
All the best,
Abraham K.

Subject: [Cz-L] Re street names

Dear Cz. friends, As long as we're talking about Czernowitz street
names, I need your help. Our deportation exemtion, which kept us in
Cz. until june 7, 1942 when we were, nevertheless deported to
Transnistria, lists the address where we were living on November 12,
1941 as # 6 TURCESCA...is anyone in our community familiar with that
address, and if so, does the street still exist, and what would the
present Ukrainian street name be for Turcesca?
Many thanks,
Paula Neuman Gris
