Czernowitzers...

As most of you know, I'm releasing under the motto "DER TAG - THE DAY IN CZERNOWITZ SEVENTY-EIGHT YEARS AGO TODAY" the Czernowitz newspaper "Der Tag", online available at: http://czernowitzdaily.blogspot.com/.

In "tomorrow's" paper edition, i. e. 07.08.1932 we learn of the following street name modifications, wich were in line with the political developments at that time:

Kuczurmarer Straße (between Austriaplatz and Storozyretzer Straße) = Bulevardul Carol II
Str. Principele Carol = Str. Templului
Str. Romana (between Ringplatz and bridge) = Str. Iuliu Maniu
Str. Ioan Creanga = Str. Spinoza
Str. Sucevei = Str. Alt
Str. Alt (in the neighborhood of the hospital) = Str. Dr. Ghiorghian (deceased director of the maternity clinic)
Str. Spitalului = Str. Dr. Cobilanschi
Str. Noua Laterale (in the neighborhood of Str. Transylvaniei at Tivoli) = Str. Prälat Schmidt
Drumul Ceahorului = Str. Gayl
Str. Aurelian = Str. Professor Eugen Botezat

PREANNOUNCEMENT: In three days, on 10.08.1932, "Der Tag" will publish a sensational report of Rose Ausländer on the Children's Holiday Colony of Vishnitsa. I'll get back to this subject, so please "stay tuned"!
