   In Israel Yiddish was boycotted.
"Hebrew man , speak Hebrew !" was on wall posters in the early
    settlement years.
Then - all of us spoke Hebrew.
Then somebody discovered that Yiddish was a funny language.
(This never occurred to me ! )
They started mocking Yiddish in stand-up shows.
The public found it immensely hillarious.
But not only in Israel, the same happened in America...

    Very funny, not ?
