  Dear All,
I am always amazed at the richness and variety of stories provided by
our List members. From the saddest, most moving story to the most
fascinating historic background information, from the family past to the
search for relatives, and now about family trees dating back to the
Middle Ages! And of course with Hardy's humorous style of telling us
about the past and bringing us down to earth sometimes, Mimi's constant
engagement to restore and improve the memory of Czernowitz's Jewish
life, all the helpers like Christian Herrmann, Joanna Lyss and the
cemetery volunteers, Cornel with his comments and involvement , and last
but not least, the tireless managers of the List, Jerome and Bruce.
To all of you who read this, wishing you a wonderful and happy New Year,
with good news about Czernowitz and about peace in Israel and in the world.

P.S. Hedwig Brenner is now in Berlin and gave a lecture yesterday about
her new book in a bookstore in former East-Berlin.
We met her the day before at her friend's and
photographer's Christel Wollmann-Fiedler. There were about 25 persons
there, all Czernowitz fans, mostly German, and their interest and
curiosity about matters related to the Czernowitz myth is still growing.
Hedwig is very lively when she tells about her life and Czernowitz in
general, although of course, she is getting frailer year by year. My
mother was there too and confirmed Hedwig's account now and then,
adding some of her own memories. The audience was delighted by their
presence and stories.
