Anny,

Do you know the words:

Trapatczka, Czainik, Kiczmeh, Smarkate? Did you use them or the German
equivalent?
Did you ever go shopping at the market on the Austriaplatz?
If you did, in what language did you speak to the peasants?
Hoch-Deutsch?

Our maid was named Annetza, she was Ruthenian.
Our washerwoman was named Afia, she was Polish, but spoke Yiddish.
My nursemaid was Freulein Mitzi, she was German, but she was fired, because
she force-fed me.
The cook was named Jenny, she was Jewish and spoke Yiddish mixed with Germa=
n
and Ruthenian.
She made =B3Hollishkes=B2 and not Gefultes Kraut, =B3Pirogen=B2 - not Teig-Tscherl.
