I imagine that all those Cz.-L. members who attended the Yiddishe Shul No.
18 in 1946-1946 still remember their teacher Haim Gininger. In 1940, when
asked by his students whether it makes sense to study Yiddish, since all of
us knew Yiddish, he used to say: "Daitcz is Daitcz un Yiddish is Yiddish".
But he also added on several occasions that the Lithuanian Yiddish is the
most authentic one and when in doubt regarding spelling or pronunciation the
Lithuanian one is the reliable one.
