I am trying to imagine what my parents, Rachel (Ruta) and Salomon (Salo)
Reifer and my maternal uncle Jehoschua (Schiku) Steinmetz, would have
thought about appearing on a Chernivtsi website, about 65 years after
leaving Czernowitz. I do not know the name of the third man in the
photograph, I assume he was a friend of my uncle, probably born in 1910.

But I think that it is entirely fitting to have this photograph on the front
page of the audio-video section of this website. After all the radio shown
in the photograph, is supposedly the first radio built in Czernowitz. It was
built by Schiku Steinmetz. I will inform his son and daughter, his
grandchildren and the "ganze mishpuche"
