Our ancestral town ?
Czernowitz without Jews is no Czernowitz to me.
What is there ? The streets , the houses ?
They are just scenery. The soul is missing .
The people are nice and smile to you .
The taxi drivers and waiters are friendly.
         But they are strangers.
I was born in a jewish Shtetl.
Now , the Ringplatz is dominated by Shevchenko
and the Fischplatz by Kobylianska .
         We arent even remembered .
The only memorial touching the jewish story is
the Trajan Popovici plaque - another Ehpes production.
If you want to feel among jews you have to go to the cemetery.
There, all are dead but jewish one by one.
Go to Zelenaya and turn left.
If you turn right you are in the wrong cemetery.
           Hardy
