Thank you Marcel and Berti for the recollections of / related to the
Mehlplatz. My mother, Pearl Spiegel Fichman, lived with her Spiegel
family, on the Mehlplatz from 1920-35 and often told stories of life
there. Then they moved a few streets away. The picture and discussion
help make her stories more alive for me.

Hello Marcel,

Is the window most to the left now on the middle floor of the building
(Mehlplatz 6) from the bedroom
of your flat? The view from that window has changed a lot instead of
the Budkes
you see restaurants, fountain and all the free Piazza that is now
called
Philharmonic
- ex Mehl or Rudolfplatz or Piata Decebal.

Pictures of the place appear now regularly on the net, it is probably
visited a
lot by
tourists and locals. But the view from the flats I lived (in the same
building
around the corner of
Stefaniegasse) has not changed at all.

Sorry about my mistake with deca - senility creeps in - slowly but
steady.

 Berti.
