Czernowitzers, am I wrong in thinking that Zuversicht means jealousy, not
confidence? Makes the saying sound quite different, if so.

As a recent member I am astonished to read about the affection some
members display for the old way of life in "Jewish Czernowitz".
It reminds of an old saying I heard in Vienna, about the Austrian's
nostalgia for the days gone by : "Der Osterreicher blickt mit
Zuversicht in die Vergangenheit" , which means "The Austrian looks with
confidence into the past!".
