Dear Edgar,

thank you for posting the articles and for the list of names. The
conditions in the Czernowitz prison of the period are described in
deatil by Yechiel Shraibman
(http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yechiel_Shraibman), a prominent Yiddish
writer, in his autobiographical novels "Yorns un reges" and "Vayter".
Shraybman himself was one of these teenage prisoners in the early
1930ies. In the novels he mentions several of his fellow
"revolutionaries" not listed in Der Tag, including father and son
Vestlers, Yaksl Stein, Boris Lerner (killed by the Nazis in Paris for
participation in the French resistance), Benyomin Jurgrau (died in
Madrid, fighting in the Spanish civil war, together with Abraham
Weissman, who is mentioned in Der Tag). Both Weissman and Jurgrau were
important figures in the Czernowitz communist underground, Weissman
was the secretary of the city committee of the Romanian Communist
party, Jurgrau was one of the leaders of the Communist Youth League.
