" Stein Stein ,teierer Stein ,
Di bist amul mein Mamenyu gewein,"
( Stone, dear stone, you have once been my mother)
sings the orphan at his mothers gravestone.
Yiddish songs of our region were tragic songs , songs of woe.
   According to our fate.
Another gem is :" Zi bin ich fin a Stein geboiren.
Zi hob ich ken Mame nischt gehat ?"
  ( Am I born of a stone ,
      Have I not had a mother ?)
The mendicant singers came in the courts for daily performances.
We threw at them pennies packed in paper for easy recovery.
